Companion Device Setup & Zero-Error Guide

Link your personal WhatsApp phone number safely in under 30 seconds using official multi-device web pairing.

How Multi-Device Mode Works

WhatsApp's Multi-Device architecture allows up to 4 companion devices (like WhatsApp Web or Desktop) to operate simultaneously and independently of your phone's battery or power state. Outpost runs as an authorized companion device on our cloud server.

Linking Instructions

1

Open Linked Devices in WhatsApp

On your primary phone, open WhatsApp. Go to Settings (iOS) or tap the three dots ⋮ in the top right (Android), then tap Linked Devices.

2

Tap Link a Device

Unlock your phone with Face ID, fingerprint, or passcode to open the camera scanner.

3

Scan Outpost QR Code

Point your phone's camera at the QR code displayed in the Channels tab. Outpost will initialize your session in 2–3 seconds.

Zero-Error Re-linking & Disconnection Recovery

WhatsApp automatically logs out companion devices if your primary phone stays completely disconnected from cellular or Wi-Fi for more than 14 consecutive days, or if you manually log out from Linked Devices.

Automatic Disconnection Detection: Outpost pings companion session health every 60 seconds. If a session drops, a warning banner appears at the top of your dashboard with a 1-click 'Re-link Channel' button to scan a fresh QR code.
